ZATCA Announces Optional Individual Zakat Contributions Exceed SAR 1 Billion Since Platform Launch

The “Zakaty” platform surpasses the one-billion-riyal mark in total collected Zakat, reflecting growing public trust and the efficiency of digital solutions in reaching those in need.

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has announced that the total Zakat funds received through the “Zakaty” platform has exceeded SAR 1 billion since its launch approximately nine years ago. This milestone indicates a growing reliance on digital solutions for fulfilling Zakat obligations.

This achievement is part of the Authority’s efforts to develop an integrated digital ecosystem that allows individuals to calculate and pay their Zakat easily and securely through trusted channels, ensuring funds are directly distributed to Social Insurance beneficiaries across various categories.

Increasing Demand Reflects Awareness and Trust in Digital Solutions

Data shows that the growth in total collected funds reflects the high volume of optional participation by individual taxpayers, alongside an increase in community awareness of the platform and the seamless nature of the digital Zakat experience.

This points to a gradual shift in individual behavior toward adopting digital platforms for managing socially driven financial obligations within a secure and integrated technical environment.

Technical Solutions Enhancing User Experience

ZATCA Spokesperson, Hamoud Al-Harbi, emphasized that the “Zakaty” platform serves as an advanced model for employing technology in the service of Zakat. The platform provides a smart calculator covering various types of Zakat, including:

  • Cash and Bank Balances
  • Gold and Silver
  • Stocks and Investment Funds
  • Real Estate

The platform offers multiple secure payment options, along with a Zakat due-date reminder feature and several other tools that have improved the user experience and increased the service’s utility for individuals.

Supporting Digital Transformation and Social Solidarity

Reaching this billion-riyal figure reflects the success of efforts to enhance digital transformation within the Zakat sector, supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to build a comprehensive digital economy.

This trend strengthens the concept of social solidarity through innovative technical solutions that ensure the efficient distribution of resources to eligible recipients via organized and transparent mechanisms.

What Does This Mean for the Business Sector?

The growth in digital platform usage reflects a broader trend toward the digitization of financial and social services. This opens doors for companies to adopt more efficient digital operating models and enhance customer experiences through tech-driven solutions.

It underscores the importance of investing in digital infrastructure and building trusted platforms that support direct interaction with users, aligning with shifting market behaviors.
